About indices
Track a market through a benchmark
An equity index measures the performance of a defined group of listed companies. Its methodology may weight constituents by market value, price or another rule. Index levels respond to company results, interest rates, economic expectations, currency movements and changes in investor sentiment.
An index CFD provides cash settled exposure to the reference index. It does not give ownership, voting rights or a direct interest in the constituent shares.
