BARS 8

Trading platform

EdgeTrader

One terminal for forex, stocks, futures, indices and digital assets, with the full order book, every order type and an environment for building and testing your own strategies. It runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, on iOS and Android, and in any modern browser with nothing to install.

Availability. Instrument availability, leverage, order types and platform features depend on the BARS 8 server configuration and on your approved account. Not every capability described here is enabled on every account.

What EdgeTrader does

A single terminal for the whole account

Multi-asset trading

Forex, stocks, futures and crypto from one unified terminal, rather than a separate platform for each asset class.

Depth of market

A Level II order book with time and sales, so you can see resting liquidity either side of the price before you commit to it.

One-click execution

Orders can be sent directly from the chart or the order book without a confirmation step, where the account is configured to allow it.

Hedging and netting

Both account models are supported with margin protection. Which one applies to you is set by your account configuration.

Algorithmic strategies

Build, back test and run Expert Advisors, custom indicators and scripts in the built-in EdgeScript IDE.

Open API

REST, WebSocket and FIX gateways are available for connecting your own systems, subject to approval.

Orders and risk

Every order type, and the controls around them

Market orders

Immediate execution at the price available when the order reaches the server.

Pending orders

Limit and stop entries placed away from the current price and triggered when the market reaches them.

Stop loss and take profit

Attached exit levels that close the position when price reaches them, subject to gaps and liquidity.

Trailing stop

A stop that follows the position while it moves in your favour and holds when it does not.

Stop-limit orders

A stop that places a limit order rather than a market order when triggered, so a fill happens at your price or not at all.

Risk management tools

Position sizing, margin monitoring and exposure views for keeping account risk visible while positions are open.

Please note

Stop, trailing and stop-limit orders manage risk but do not remove it. A gap, a thin book or a fast market can execute an order away from the level you set, or skip it entirely.

Automation

Build, test and run your own strategies

EdgeTrader includes an IDE for Expert Advisors, custom indicators and scripts, along with the testing environment to evaluate them before they touch a live account.

  • Built-in IDE for Expert Advisors, custom indicators and scripts

  • Historical back testing against tick data

  • Genetic and full optimisation modes

  • Forward testing on out-of-sample data

  • Multiple Expert Advisors running concurrently

Please note

A back test describes how a strategy would have behaved on past data under the assumptions of the test. It is not a forecast, and live results differ because of spread, slippage, latency, gaps and the market's response to your own orders.
